The MTV VMAs have been bringing us legendary moments for more than three decades. When all the world’s biggest superstars & divas gather inside the same arena, & hit the stage together, it becomes obvious that some legendary, iconic, mind-blowing stuff are about to happen.

It has been the same no matter where the event has been held; in Los Angeles, Las Vegas, Miami or New York- where it all started. & that’s where it’s returning to on August 28, 2016.  & for the first time ever in VMA’s history, it will take place at Madison Square Garden.

“We are very excited the VMAs will return to their original home, the greatest city on earth,” Mayor Bill de Blasio told MTV News in an email interview in April. “We’re the cultural capital of the world, and there are so many fans here in New York, so it’s so natural for them to be here.” Julie Menin, the commissioner of the Mayor’s Office of Media and Entertainment, told MTV News, “[This] reinforces that New York City is, indeed, the entertainment capital of the world.”

Though the list of the performers & the nominees is yet to be announced, one thing’s for sure: that the show will hold on to its legacy & repeat history by delivering some memorable moments like it always has.

Fans all over the world have already started making speculations & voting for the most legendary moments the show delivered in the past years. Which include Miley Cyrus’s famous twerk back in 2013, reunion of NSYNC with Justin Timberlake in 2009, Lil Mama storming the stage in 2009, Kayne West interrupting Taylor Swift in the same show, Madonna, Britney Spears & Christina Aguilera’s“Making Out” back in 2003, & so on.
